The Journey Begins!

Welcome to Trekking Thru Hobbit Holes! Have a seat and a cuppa, and I’ll try to make a long story short for this first blog post!

First, an introduction for any new readers! My name is Maribeth, and I’m a 26-year-old Christian author living in a small-town Southern life. I’ve been writing since I was 5 years old, I’m a recovering people pleaser, I’m the oldest of nine kids, and I fangirl over historical figures and fictional characters on a daily basis. I also have a very large collection of FunkoPOPs. (There are even more lurking in the background, I promise.)

I’ve been blogging for six years, but after self-hosting my own site all that long time I was ready for a (much less expensive) change–hence this new blog. The goal is still the same, albeit even more focused than before: I write book, movie, and television reviews from a Christian worldview, with plenty of room for the occasional blog tag, life update, and progress reports for my upcoming novel, Lionhearted. I’m nearly halfway through the editing process on my second draft, so things are getting exciting!

Notice I have a new page at the top of this website titled “My Reviews.” There you’ll find links to all of the reviews I ever wrote on my old site, now safely tucked away at The Formidable Courage Archive. I’ll be adding to that page as I add more reviews. In the sidebar you’ll also see social media icons for my Pinterest, Tumblr, Twitter, and this blog’s brand-new Instagram!

Note: If you signed up for email updates on my old blog and still want to follow Trekking Thru Hobbit Holes, you WILL need to enter your email address in the sidebar under the social media icons. (For mobile users, this will be close to the bottom of the page.)

Aaaaaaand that’s about it! I hope you enjoy my new site and that we’ll all have many wonderful adventures and discussions together!

Lots of love,

  1. Nice new site! I keep smiling stupidly at all the descriptions of yourself LOL. #lifegoals Who are you hosting your domain with now? I kinda want to do something similar, switching to a new blog and archiving the old one. I just need to move my wp.org stuff to a wp.com domain XD

    1. Thank you! I’m so glad you like my new web-space! And I get a big kick out of knowing I made somebody grin or giggle 😉

I’m hosting with wordpress(dot)com now. I was doing the same as you–self-hosting with a wp.org platform–but it was just getting way too expensive. Sooooo, I simply started a wp.com site and bought my domain from them. The price was VERY reasonable, and if I ever want to upgrade the site and have even more options (like monetizing my site), I can always do that whenever I want. But I imported everything from my OLD blog to a simple wp.com site, without an independent domain name. It sounds way more complicated than it was!
